How to convert PNG to WEBP.

Savings depend on the image and browser encoder. Tiny icons and flat graphics may remain smaller as PNG; compare before replacing your originals.

  1. 01

Choose PNG files you want to use on the web.

  2. 02

Set WebP quality, balancing detail against file size.

  3. 03

Convert and compare the measured sizes and previews.

  4. 04

Download the WebP files and check them in your intended application.

GOOD TO KNOW

A few useful answers.

Is browser WebP encoding lossless?

This converter exposes the browser’s quality setting and does not promise lossless WebP encoding. Keep PNG when a guaranteed lossless source matters.

Is transparency preserved?

The canvas retains the decoded PNG alpha channel when encoding WebP. Transparent output still depends on your browser’s supported encoder.

What if my browser cannot export WebP?

The tool checks WebP encoding support and verifies the output bytes. It disables unsupported output instead of renaming a PNG as WebP.
